Day 4 - Tekapo to Cromwell

We left Tekapo and headed for Cromwell to catch up with Miriam's cousin Eric and wife Yvonne.

The route through to Omarama is stunning with great views of the Southern Alps around Lake Pukaki. The mountains were clagged in so no views of Mt Cook but still very impressive.

We stopped for a late morning coffee break in Omarama and a quite forgettable sausage roll. Oh for some local knowledge!

Then the Lindis Pass. The is an amazing driving experience but was quite stressful due to the severe Nor'west gale funneling at us from all directions. We finally got to the edge of Lake Dunstan and the driving got easier but still quite breezy.

We are now camped with Eric and Yvonne at a free-campling area just out of Cromwell on the way to Wanaka. This evening is going to be a joint meal with a venison casserole and roast veges washed down with lashings of red wine!!

We are being rocked by the ongoing stormy conditions with thunder and lightning! Hopefully, tomorrow the weather will improve.
